The trustees were able to contribute to the cost of establishing a Peace Garden situated at the Wish Tower, Eastbourne in memory of the people killed and injured in the bombing raids on the town during the war of 1939-45 and in memory of the fortitude of residents during those years.
The centre piece of the Peace Garden is a nine ton piece of glacial granite with a plaque bearing the names of the 180 civilians who lost their lives in bombing.
